farset labs belfast

As a Director of Farset Labs hackerspace and technology charity, I enabled hackathons, open data initiatives, and free technology education programs. I co-designed and delivered the Maker Assembly at our Belfast space, a symposium that brought together academics, artists, and activists from across Europe to discuss digital maker cultures. I was also the Farset Labs representative within the Open Data Network Northern Ireland (Open Data Institute), where I contributed to the vision of delivering more open and accountable government services through open data initiatives. Other projects included an Internet of Things (IoT) hackathon in conjunction with Intel; a ‘policy hack’ for the voluntary and community sector; and various events that focussed on prototyping technology to address social challenges.

video4change IMPACT TOOLKIT

The Video4Change Network is a consortium of organisations catalysing the use of video for human rights, social justice, and environmental change. I helped develop the Impact Toolkit, to help practitioners design and strategise for impact in social change initiatives. It is designed for documentary or journalist video-makers, established Video for Change organisations, and nonprofit organisations that are using or thinking about using video to engage their communities.

10 Involved

An initiative of the British Psychological Society and Queen’s University Belfast, 10 Involved engaged mental health service users in Northern Ireland to better understand their experiences of the health system. The findings from the workshops were used to design a training resource to help the NHS deliver co-designed mental health services.
